Nongshim announced on May 27 that it has held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new export-only production base, the "Busan Noksan Export-Only Factory," and has officially begun construction of the facility.

The Nongshim Noksan Export-Only Factory will be built on the available land at the existing Noksan plant, which currently produces dried noodles. The factory will occupy a site of approximately 11,280 square meters (about 3,400 pyeong), with a total floor area of about 48,100 square meters (about 14,500 pyeong), and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026.
After the completion of the Noksan Export-Only Factory, Nongshim plans to initially operate three production lines, producing 500 million packs of ramen annually. When combined with the export production volume from the Busan plant (600 million packs) and the Gumi plant (100 million packs), Nongshim's total annual export ramen production will reach approximately 1.2 billion packs, which is about double the current level. Nongshim also plans to increase production capacity by adding more lines in the future, depending on overseas sales trends.
A Nongshim representative stated, "The Noksan Export-Only Factory can expand up to a maximum of eight lines to increase production capacity to about three times the current level in line with overseas market growth. As we are preparing for a second leap into the global market, especially with Shin Ramyun Tumba, we will establish production capabilities that match our ambitions and further solidify our position as the leading K-ramen company."
The Nongshim export-only factory will be constructed by integrating the company's AI smart factory expertise accumulated over decades of operating domestic and international plants. It will feature a quality inspection system utilizing Nongshim's proprietary AI deep learning technology, as well as a system that uses big data to predict and respond to potential issues.
The factory will also obtain global quality certifications suitable for an export-only facility. In addition to ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 certifications, Nongshim plans to operate the factory with RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and Halal certifications to comply with various regulations in different countries. Furthermore, for sustainable management, the factory will be operated as an eco-friendly facility through the installation of energy-saving equipment and the optimal use of energy.
Meanwhile, in March, Nongshim established its European subsidiary, "Nongshim Europe B.V.," in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to strengthen its presence in the market. Based on the production capacity of the Noksan Export-Only Factory, Nongshim aims to quadruple its sales in Europe by 2030 through expanding sales of major products such as Shin Ramyun and launching new products tailored to local preferences. The Noksan Export-Only Factory will also play a key role in targeting South American and Southwest Asian markets, which have high growth potential for ramen.
