Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) has conducted a large-scale cleaning of local road facilities and sewer systems in preparation for the summer season, aiming to prevent damage from heavy rainfall and to create a pleasant urban environment.
This maintenance was carried out to clean facilities contaminated by pollen and vehicle emissions, and to prevent safety accidents and inconveniences during rainfall.
The maintenance of road facilities was concentrated during off-peak hours with low traffic volume to minimize inconvenience for residents. High-pressure washers were used at a total of 12 locations, including 7 underground pedestrian and vehicle passages and 5 pedestrian overpasses.
In addition, the district completed cleaning of a total of 82.6 kilometers of sewer pipelines and maintenance of 24,867 stormwater inlets, ensuring thorough management of infrastructure to prevent flooding during the monsoon season. In particular, the district plans to maintain a continuous management system for heavy rainfall by cleaning stormwater inlets and sewer pipelines two to three times or more by the end of the year.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "Since roads and sewers are core elements of urban infrastructure, we aimed to establish a safe and pleasant living environment through preemptive maintenance." He added, "We will continue to create a cleaner Jungnang that residents can be satisfied with through systematic and ongoing management."
