Up Line Construction on May 27
Down Line Construction on June 4
Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on May 26 that it will carry out facility improvement works, including upgrades to the track switch at Geumcheon-gu Office Station in Seoul, to ensure safe train operations.
Train operations will be adjusted over two days: on May 27 for the up line and on June 4 for the down line. On May 27, operations of 13 general trains?including Mugunghwa and Saemaeul trains?on the Gyeongbu Line and Honam Line will be suspended, and the routes of 5 trains will be altered. On June 4, operations of 20 trains on the Gyeongbu Line and Honam Line will be suspended, and the routes of 3 trains will be changed.
Trains whose entire routes are suspended can be checked via the mobile app 'KORAIL Talk' and on the reservation screen of the official website. For trains with adjusted routes, passengers must verify the departure and arrival stations. For example, on May 27, Mugunghwa No. 1306 on the Gyeongbu Line (Busan?Daejeon?Seoul) will operate only between Busan and Daejeon; the Daejeon?Seoul section will not run. Some trains, including KTX, passing through the improvement work section may experience delays due to slow-speed operations for safety.
To minimize inconvenience to customers caused by the operation adjustments, KORAIL has implemented proactive measures such as having trains make temporary stops at 12 stations and allowing regular ticket holders to use higher-class trains within the same section. KORAIL also plans to make every effort to provide advance notice regarding the operation adjustments, including posting announcements on online media and at stations, broadcasting videos inside KTX trains, and sending SMS notifications to regular ticket holders.
