Applications accepted at Administrative Welfare Centers and by email until June 12
Preliminary round to be held at Multipurpose Hall of Suncheon City Culture and Health Center on June 15
Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) announced on May 26 that it will host the "National Singing Contest" at Ocheon Green Square on June 18.
This "Suncheon Edition" of the contest is being held for the first time in six years since 2019. The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. on June 18 at Ocheon Green Square. In case of rain, the venue will be changed to Palma Indoor Gymnasium. The show will be hosted by Nam Heeseok, and featured guest singers will include Lee Eunha, Moon Yeonju, Enok, Shin Seungtae, and Bae Jina.
Around 15 teams selected through preliminary rounds will perform on stage that day. The preliminaries will be held on June 15 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Suncheon City Culture and Health Center. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 300 people, and on-site registration will also be available for one hour starting at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the preliminaries. Eligible participants for the preliminaries include Suncheon residents, business owners, workers, and students based in Suncheon. Applications can be submitted in person at the local administrative welfare centers by June 12, or by downloading the application form from the Suncheon City website and submitting it via email.
A city official stated, "This will be an opportunity for citizens to fully showcase their hidden talents," and added, "We hope many citizens will participate and create happy memories with their loved ones, including family, friends, and partners."
The official also noted, "We expect this event to serve as an opportunity to promote Suncheon as a healing city in harmony with nature, highlighting Ocheon Green Square, the National Garden, and Suncheon Bay to people across the country."
