On May 26, Gwangju City announced that it will host the '2025 Gwangju Food Expo' at the Kimdaejung Convention Center for four days, from May 29 to June 1.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Gwangju Food Expo is the largest food exhibition in the Honam region, serving as an industrial exhibition that encompasses both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions.

This year's event is themed 'Sustainable Leap Forward for the Gwangju Food Industry Together with the Region,' and will feature more than 300 companies presenting a wide variety of products at over 450 booths, including agricultural and marine products, food machinery, processed and frozen foods, and cafe & bakery items. Notably, this year's Food Expo will be held alongside the 'Gwangju Liquor Tourism Festa' and the 'Tea & Cafe Show,' offering visitors a diverse and abundant exhibition experience.

To help food companies expand their markets, the event will also include an export consultation meeting (with 24 buyer companies), a domestic distribution consultation meeting (with 25 MD companies), and a venture capital investment consultation meeting. The 'Venture Capital Investment Consultation Meeting,' being held for the first time this year, is expected to serve as an opportunity to support food startups in securing growth-stage funding and to establish a foundation for sustainable growth.

Various special exhibition halls will also be operated. These include the Gwangju-Daegu Dalbit Alliance Hall (18 companies), the Local Cuisine Special Hall (6 companies), the Korea Sik-Ae-In Forum Linked Special Hall (5 companies), the Local Government Hall (Jeonnam and Jeju group hall with 16 companies), and the International Hall (19 companies), thereby strengthening interregional exchange and overseas market connections.

In celebration of the 'Year of Visiting Gwangju,' a variety of citizen participation programs will be held to allow both citizens and tourists to join in, including the Eco-friendly K-Food Startup Cooking Contest, the Gwangju Signature Food Cooking Competition, the Confectionery and Baking Contest, and the Plaza Beer Festival and Flea Market.

Joo Jaehee, Director of the Economic and Startup Bureau, stated, "This year's expo is not only an industrial business event but also a comprehensive festival where visitors can experience the unique flavors and style of Gwangju," adding, "It will help establish a foundation for the sustainable growth of the food industry and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
