The 2nd Comet Concert at Won Buddhism Wonnam Church Concludes Successfully

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., the 2nd Comet Concert was held to great acclaim at the Daegakjeon Hall of Won Buddhism Wonnam Church in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with over 200 people in attendance. First launched in June 2023, the Comet Concert is held in honor of Kim Hyesung (birth name Kim Yoonnam), also known as Shintawon, a Won Buddhism Wonjeongsa who made significant contributions to the construction of Wonnam Church, and the mother of Hong Rahee, the wife of the late Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kunhee.

The concert was held under the theme "A Night to Share the Joy of Dharma Bliss Blossoming from the Heart," and was attended by many distinguished guests, including Wangsan, the Head Dharma Master of Won Buddhism, as well as figures from the political, governmental, academic, and local communities, and church members. The performance was led by Maestro Shinik Ham, conducting the Symphony Song Orchestra. Bass-baritone Yoo Myunghun, a guest soloist from the Dessau State Theater in Germany, and a 30-member choir delivered a moving performance together.


The Daegakjeon Hall at Wonnam Church, where the event was held, was designed by world-renowned architect Cho Minseok, CEO of Mass Studies. The space, which harmoniously blends culture and spirituality with its acoustics, left a deep impression on attendees. Oh Sangdon, President of the Church Members' Association at Wonnam Church, explained, "The Comet Concert is not just a memorial event, but a time to deeply reflect on the value of 'Dharma bliss' that Wonjeongsa Kim Hyesung practiced throughout her life. Wonnam Church is establishing itself as a space where culture and spirituality coexist in the heart of Jongno, and many people are continually drawn here by its symbolic significance and architectural beauty."
