The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on May 26 that it will dispatch a project support delegation to Tanzania and Qatar for a five-day schedule. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen cooperation with local governments in areas such as smart cities, urban development, and transportation infrastructure.

Jinhyun Hwan, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and head of the delegation, plans to meet Godfrey Kasekenya, Deputy Minister of Works, in Dodoma, the capital of Tanzania, to discuss smart cities, new town development, and road construction. The Ministry of Works is currently promoting projects to address urban population density. The support delegation will focus on promoting the technological capabilities of Korean companies.

Vice Minister Jin will also meet with Deo Gratias John Ndejembi, Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, to discuss cooperation in housing development and spatial information. The Spatial Information Innovation Center in Tanzania was built with support from Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) in the land and transport sector. He will also meet with David Kihenjile, Deputy Minister of Transport, to discuss railway infrastructure cooperation and request support for Korea's candidacy in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council election. The local railway training center is being developed with support from Korea's Economic Development Cooperation Fund.

The delegation will support ongoing supervision projects for the construction of the Central Line railway, which are being carried out by Korean companies such as Korea Railroad Corporation and Cheil Engineering, to ensure smooth progress. They also plan to actively promote the possibility of Korean companies winning contracts for railway operation and maintenance after the line opens by informing the local government.

In addition, the delegation will meet with the Deputy Minister of Health to discuss the construction of a general hospital and the development of a bio-cluster. The schedule also includes holding meetings with Korean companies operating in Tanzania and Qatar to listen to their difficulties and suggestions. Vice Minister Jin stated, "By positioning Tanzania as a base for entering Africa, we will support Korea-Tanzania infrastructure cooperation and diversify Korea's overseas construction market, which is currently concentrated in the Middle East and Asia."
