AI 3D Modeling in Under 5 Minutes, 15 Times More Precise, 90% Cheaper
Scanning Expands from Face to Body Shape, Skin, and Even Dentistry
In the beauty and medical fields, such as plastic surgery and dermatology, consultations are a crucial step that determines the client's choices. If there is a gap between the client's expectations and the actual surgical results during this process, dissatisfaction may arise and the likelihood of disputes increases. To enhance the precision of consultations, hospitals sometimes introduce expensive 3D scanner equipment. However, the high cost?which can range from tens of millions to hundreds of millions of won?along with the need for dedicated shooting spaces and specialized personnel, creates a significant burden. Kinsight is a startup that has gained attention by targeting this gap in the market. Co-founded by CEO Hyunsu Cho and COO Joseph Kim, Kinsight has developed a solution called 'EZ-FACE.'
CEO Cho defines EZ-FACE as a "vision AI-based 3D scan consultation solution for beauty and medical use." With EZ-FACE, anyone can conduct a 3D modeling consultation by simply installing an application on a tablet or smartphone to scan their face. The fact that no expensive equipment is required is changing the paradigm of the existing market.
The competitive edge of EZ-FACE lies in its precise AI analysis technology. Traditional 3D scanners manually extracted 26 facial landmarks (feature points), but EZ-FACE automatically analyzes 468 facial landmarks using an AI-based facial recognition module. This allows for facial symmetry, proportions, and shape to be diagnosed with 15 times greater precision than before, and the entire process from shooting to 3D model generation can be completed in under five minutes. In particular, clients can use their mobile devices to capture their own facial images and send virtual plastic surgery data to the clinic, which can then be used for medical consultations, significantly improving consultation efficiency for hospitals.
COO Kim stated, "Representative app services utilizing EZ-FACE include 'Lummitry' for beauty herbal clinics and 'BelleLine 3D' for semi-permanent makeup, both of which are currently being piloted by select businesses." At herbal clinics, the solution is used for facial asymmetry correction consultations, while semi-permanent makeup providers use it as a visual consultation tool for areas such as eyebrows, lips, and hairlines. He added, "Clinic directors and semi-permanent makeup practitioners participating in the pilot program have given positive feedback, noting that consultation times have shortened and satisfaction has increased."
Kinsight is currently focusing on developing plastic surgery prediction features. The company plans to expand the scope of its virtual surgery business beyond the face to include the chest and body shape, skin and anti-aging, and dentistry by the second half of 2027. In addition, Kinsight intends to further refine the consultation process using the user data accumulated through the app and to advance the system into an AI-based remote consultation platform.
Kinsight is also pursuing overseas expansion, targeting countries with active beauty and medical markets such as the United States, Thailand, and Vietnam. Based on a monthly subscription revenue model, the company has set ambitious sales targets of 1.3 billion won this year and 130.5 billion won in 2028. CEO Cho said, "Each industry, such as plastic surgery clinics and aesthetic shops, has different required features and demands," adding, "Considering the scalability of our app, I believe there is ample potential."
