A man in his 30s who turned himself in to the police after using drugs has been revealed to be a middleman in a drug distribution organization.
On May 26, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced that it had arrested and detained a man in his 30s on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
According to the police, the man was urgently arrested by officers who responded after he called 112 himself on May 24, reporting that he had used drugs. At the scene, police seized ketamine and a syringe used for drug injection.
Police investigations additionally revealed that the man had also been acting as a middleman for a drug sales and distribution organization. Since December of last year, he had participated in distribution by burying ketamine in wooded areas around Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, where couriers would later retrieve it.
The police confirmed that 2 to 3 days before his arrest, the man had also hidden drugs in a wooded area. They searched wooded areas in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province and seized an additional 2.4 kilograms of ketamine.
A police official stated, "We are expanding the investigation to include others involved in this man's drug distribution activities."
