Jumin Park, Chair of the Basic Society Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea's Presidential Campaign Committee, commented on the possibility of a unified candidacy between Moonsu Kim, the People Power Party presidential candidate, and Junseok Lee, the Reform New Party presidential candidate, saying, "There is a possibility."

On May 26, during an appearance on SBS Radio's "Kim Taehyun's Political Show," Park stated, "It is not important whether the likelihood of unification is high or low; what matters is that there is a possibility." He added, "As long as there is a possibility, we are working hard on our campaign, preparing for every scenario."

He said, "We need to look at what purpose they are seeking unification for, and what the process will be." He pointed out, "The direction, objective, and justification of unification are extremely important. If it is perceived as a mere sharing of power, the effect of unification will inevitably be relatively limited."

Regarding the "Basic Society" pledge announced by Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung, Park said, "It is like a blueprint that outlines the general direction our society should head toward in the future." He described it as "not so much about detailed content, but rather a vision for the long-term direction our society should pursue." He added, "No one would oppose such a broad direction and vision." Regarding the "Emergency Economic Response Task Force" mentioned by candidate Lee, Park said, "We need to implement policies that can revive people's livelihoods, especially to recover from domestic demand stagnation. The specific details and direction will be examined more closely once the task force is launched."

Park also commented on candidate Kim's reference to former President Park Geun Hye during a campaign rally, saying, "The public will find it difficult to accept this statement." He continued, "In some respects, it appears to fundamentally deny the constitutional order and the unique responsibilities of the president as outlined in our Constitution. It is a highly inappropriate remark."

Earlier, on the morning of May 25 at a campaign rally in Okcheon, North Chungcheong Province, candidate Kim said of former President Park, "She never accepted bribes, nor did she lie about being single like someone else, or do anything so absurd. There was no corruption or wrongdoing." He continued, "Yet she was unfairly imprisoned and lost all her assets." He added, "The honor of former President Park will definitely be restored."
