Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 25 that it has transformed the aging outdoor gateball court at 604 Bora-dong, Giheung-gu, into an 'Urban Forest' for local residents.

The city invested 150 million won to create a loess ball experience area and a rest space, and also installed lighting to allow nighttime use. In the newly established Urban Forest, the city planted 147 trees of 8 different species including dogwood, 325 shrubs of various types such as hydrangea and evergreen, and 5,879 groundcover plants of 25 species including maple-leaved stonecrop, liriope, and red spider lily.
A city official stated, "We focused not only on simply refurbishing the space but also on creating a healing space for rest and recovery for local residents," and added, "We will continue to do our best to create a pleasant park environment in the future."
