The group of Dongduk Women's University students known as "Democracyless Minjudongduk" held a rally near the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of May 25, calling for an end to the investigation into students who staged a sit-in protest on campus.
Democracyless Minjudongduk stated, "The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is continuing its own investigation into Dongduk Women's University students even though the complaints against them have already been withdrawn, while taking no action regarding the school's clear illegal activities. We demand an immediate end to this biased investigation." Participants in the rally also filed petitions through the National Petition Portal, requesting a fair investigation from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
Dongduk Women's University withdrew all complaints against the students who occupied the main building in protest against the proposed transition to a coeducational system on May 15 of last year. However, the police investigation into the students is ongoing. This is because the charges the students face, such as property damage and obstruction of business, are not offenses subject to non-prosecution upon the victim's objection, and thus cannot be dropped simply because the victim does not wish to pursue prosecution.
