Ahn Cheolsoo: "Lee's Claim to Defend the Constitution Is Absurd... Even Kim Jongun Would Call Him 'Elder Brother'"

Ahn: "Lee Jaemyung Will Not Accept Defeat if He Loses the Presidential Election"

Ahn Cheolsoo, co-chairman of the People Power Party's joint election countermeasures committee and a lawmaker from the People Power Party, criticized Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung on the 25th for claiming that he and the Democratic Party are the forces defending the Constitution, calling it "absurd."

Through his Facebook page on this day, Ahn stated, "All the Lee Jaemyung faction has done in this National Assembly is to disrupt the constitutional order and destroy democracy through legislative overreach, solely to protect and shield Lee Jaemyung, who is facing criminal charges." He added, "Is protecting Lee Jaemyung the same as defending the Constitution? You should be ashamed."

He went on to say that Lee is exhibiting "an unprecedentedly dictatorial mindset, as if he himself is the Constitution and the nation itself." He continued, "Even Louis XIV would be astonished and applaud. Even North Korea's Kim Jongun would call him 'elder brother' and serve him."

He further criticized, "The Lee Jaemyung faction has never once apologized to the people for their reckless passage of shield laws, the rush to impeach ministers, the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, and prosecutors, or for paralyzing the government." He raised his voice, saying, "The shameless and disgraceful acts committed in the past against a certain actor, the immoral acts committed against family members, are now being committed against the entire nation."

Regarding Lee's raising of allegations of election fraud during the 2012 presidential election, Ahn said, "How is Lee any different from former President Yoon Sukyeol watching a movie about election fraud?" He argued, "Looking at the past, isn't Lee Jaemyung actually the true election fraud conspiracist? His brazen behavior?pretending to be innocent, turning lies into truth, glorifying crimes, and packaging fraud as assistance?is a thorough disregard and insult to the people."

He particularly emphasized, "If Lee loses in this presidential election, I believe he will never accept the results. He will once again claim election fraud, incite the people, plot division, and paralyze the country."

While repeatedly apologizing for former President Yoon's emergency martial law, Ahn stressed, "Lee must never be allowed to win. This is the Republic of Korea where our children will live. We cannot turn a blind eye and make such a choice. We cannot knowingly ignore the truth and vote for him."

He also urged, "Even now, Lee should apologize to the people for his faction's violation of the constitutional order, destruction of democracy, and wrongdoing. And he should clearly declare that he will accept the results if he loses the presidential election."
