This year’s festival brought together approximately 5,000 athletes from 22 cities and counties across Gyeongbuk. Departing from the previous system of awarding prizes by individual event, the competition introduced a comprehensive scoring system by city and county, injecting new energy into the contest.
Pohang City sent a delegation of 184 athletes to this year’s festival, securing 41 gold medals, 36 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals, and achieved an overwhelming victory to take first place overall. The city demonstrated its status as a true sports city by delivering strong performances across a range of events, including track and field, powerlifting, shuffleboard, park golf, and Hangung.
In particular, athlete Seo Jisook, who competed in track events, delivered an outstanding performance by winning three gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 400m relay races.
Lee Kangdeok, Mayor of Pohang and President of the Pohang Disabled Sports Association, said, “I deeply appreciate the fighting spirit and dedication of our athletes,” and added, “We will continue to provide unwavering support to promote disabled sports and strengthen the capabilities of our athletes.”
