"Hoping My Daughter's Birth Will Signal a New Era of Glory for Tottenham"
'Angela Madison Heungmin'
After Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League (PL) lifted the UEFA Europa League (UEL) trophy for the first time in 41 years in the 2024-25 season, a British man made headlines by including "Heungmin" in his daughter's name.
The BBC reported on May 22 (local time) the story of a father whose baby was born at Queen Charlotte's Hospital in London. This father is an avid Tottenham fan. According to the report, while he was explaining to his wife the emotional response to both the birth and Tottenham's first European title since 1984, the baby fell soundly asleep. The fan proved his devotion to Tottenham by wearing a 1994-95 season Tottenham jersey.
The father told the BBC, "While I was describing to my wife the range of emotions I felt about the baby's birth and Tottenham lifting the UEL trophy for the first time in 41 years since 1984, the baby fell asleep."
The BBC added, "We hope Angela will be a signal of a return to the glory days, and that she never finds out she could have been called 'Daniella.'"
Earlier, on May 22, Tottenham won the final held at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao, Spain, defeating Manchester United (England) 1-0.
Son Heungmin was substituted in the 67th minute, leading the counterattack and contributing to the defense, helping secure the victory. Although Maddison could not play in the final due to injury, he was a key member of the captain's group and a core midfielder throughout the season. When the final whistle blew, Son Heungmin and Maddison embraced each other and wept.
With this victory, Tottenham claimed their first trophy in 17 years since winning the League Cup in 2008. In terms of European competitions, it was their first title in 41 years since winning the UEFA Cup in 1984.
