The Chungnam Office of Education announced that it would conduct a two-day "Sex Education Competency Enhancement Training" for early-career teachers in the province from the 23rd to the 24th.
This training, held under the theme "Adding Depth to Learning!", aims to strengthen teachers' expertise in sex education and to enhance the quality of sex education by expanding access to gender equality education for all teachers.
The training program consists of practical and systematic sessions that can be immediately applied in educational settings, including: improving sex education teaching and learning methods; providing gender equality education based on mutual respect; and strengthening teachers' capacity to respond to related issues.
In particular, to provide early-career teachers with opportunities to develop their competencies regarding gender equality and sex education within the 2022 revised curriculum and the sex education standards, themed sessions titled "Drawing Sex Education, Immersing in Sex Education!" were held. These sessions offered teachers time to reflect on how to help students form healthy self-identities.
Kim Jicheol, Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education, stated, "Our students, who will live in the future, must possess the competencies of democratic and global citizens. Since understanding oneself and others is fundamental and must be accompanied by sex education, we will continue to support substantial and effective school sex education."
