On the 22nd, the 1st Kim-Renaud Humanities and Social Sciences Research Award ceremony was held at Ewha Womans University. Ewha Womans University
This award was established through a donation from Young-Key Kim, an alumna of Ewha Womans University and Professor Emerita of East Asian Languages and Literatures at George Washington University, and her spouse, economist Bertrand Renaud.
The 1st Kim-Renaud Research Award was given under the theme of "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Humanities." Recipients included Hong Yeri, Ph.D. in Philosophy at Ewha Womans University, and Park Yesle, a doctoral student in English Language and Literature at Ewha Womans University. Dr. Hong was recognized for research that proposed an educational model for questioning AI through philosophy, while doctoral student Park drew attention for her research that shed new light on gender issues by analyzing Jane Austen's novel "Mansfield Park" through digital humanities.
A representative from Ewha Womans University stated, "This research award is significant in that it discovered and encouraged research that presents a direction for the humanities in a technological society," adding, "We will continue to promote interdisciplinary humanities research and serve as a bridge connecting academia and society."
