Free COVID-19 Vaccinations for Seniors Aged 65 and Older
Available Until June 30
On May 23, the city of Cheonan in South Chungcheong Province recommended COVID-19 vaccinations in response to a recent surge in cases, particularly in Greater China and Southeast Asian countries.
The vaccination is recommended for seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and above, and residents or inpatients of facilities vulnerable to infection. The vaccinations are provided free of charge.
The vaccination period runs until June 30. Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are available until May 28, after which only the Moderna vaccine will be administered.
Vaccinations can be received at designated local medical institutions after prior verification. The list of participating institutions can be found on the public health center's website.
Lee Hyunki, head of the Seobuk District Public Health Center, stated, "With concerns rising over a potential resurgence of COVID-19 this summer, prevention is more important than ever," and urged those who have not yet been vaccinated, as well as those eligible for additional doses, to get vaccinated. He also emphasized the importance of personal hygiene, including proper ventilation and wearing masks.
Meanwhile, the public health center recommended the following measures to prevent COVID-19 infection: washing hands with soap under running water for at least 30 seconds; ventilating indoor spaces for at least 10 minutes every two hours; and covering the mouth and nose with a sleeve or tissue when coughing.
