On that day, Odileta passed away first around 7 a.m., and later that day, at 5 p.m. in the same place, her husband Pascual also passed away. This was just two days after their 74th wedding anniversary celebration. The couple married in April 1951 as teenagers; Odileta managed the household, while Pascual worked at a textile shop.
Together, they founded a charity in Botuporanga, donating baby clothes to single mothers and sharing food with those in need. During this time, Odileta was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and began her battle with the illness. In 2023, Pascual was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. After the couple's funeral, their son-in-law said, "It is a love story worthy of a movie. They always said they would leave together, and it became reality," as he shared several letters written by Pascual.

In the first letter Pascual sent to Odileta in 1947, he wrote, "I want to make you happy. That way, I think I will be happy too. Even if I lived for a thousand years, I would remember the happy moments by your side." In July 1949, Odileta also wrote to Pascual, "I haven't forgotten you and I never will." The two were married on April 15, 1951, had six children, and were blessed with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their son-in-law, Luciano Real, said, "They were true soulmates, and their love story is remarkable enough to be made into a movie. Their legacy will live on forever."
