Briefing Session Invites Over 20 Beauty Brand Sellers
Promoting New Brands Through Monthly Special Events
"Sangsaeng Festival" Held... Marketing Cost Support Provided
On May 23, Gmarket, the e-commerce platform affiliated with Shinsegae Group, announced that it had hosted a business briefing session, inviting over 20 beauty brands, including new partners and brands seeking to strengthen their online business.
At the event, the company shared its first-quarter beauty business performance and discussed strategies to increase online beauty sales. Gmarket also invited expert lecturers to deliver presentations on its sales strategies and how to use its sales management programs.
Gmarket plans to hold quarterly briefing sessions for sellers in major categories such as beauty, fashion, and electronics, in order to help new sellers settle into the platform and to foster communication.
To promote new brands, Gmarket has launched a monthly special event called "Shininui Hansu." This initiative aims to discover outstanding products in key categories and strengthen the open market's core competitiveness. For small and medium-sized sellers, it offers a chance to spotlight their products, increase sales, and potentially become star sellers.
Customers can purchase popular products from innovative brands at affordable prices. During the first "Beauty Edition" held on May 19, the number of customers who purchased products from participating brands increased by 960% compared to usual. The "Special Deal," which allowed customers to try full-sized beauty items at shipping-cost-level prices, sold out its initial stock, prompting Gmarket to add more inventory.
Gmarket is also recruiting sellers to participate in the "Sangsaeng Festival," an online fair for small and medium-sized businesses running until May 31. The Sangsaeng Festival, launched in 2009, is an online fair that supports the growth of small sellers by helping small and medium-sized businesses and local producers expand their online sales channels and boost sales. Gmarket hosts the event, with support from a total of 12 government and public organizations, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environment, and the Small Enterprise and Market Service. Compared to last year's event, the number of supporting organizations has increased by approximately 40% this year.
Gmarket plans to support sellers with marketing costs, discount coupons, and credit card discounts, and will run special events using its main marketing channels to increase product exposure. Free consulting services will also be provided through both online and offline channels. The newly established offline consulting sessions will be held once a month from June to August at the Shinsegae Namsan Training Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
A Gmarket representative stated, "The open market structure is such that sellers must succeed for the platform to grow together," adding, "We will continue to provide more online exposure opportunities and direct support, including marketing costs, to help increase their sales."
