Thirty Collection Bags to Be Distributed to Each Apartment Complex
On May 22, Sejong City announced that it will temporarily provide transparent PET bottle collection-only bags free of charge at recycling collection points in apartment complexes.
The transparent PET bottle separation and collection system is a policy that requires colorless and transparent PET bottles to be separated from general plastics and disposed of in dedicated collection bins or bags.
However, there have been many cases where transparent PET bottles and general plastics are mixed together during disposal, resulting in a low collection rate of transparent PET bottles.
The city plans to produce 45,000 transparent PET bottle collection-only bags with a capacity of 300 liters each and distribute 30 bags to each recycling collection point in apartment complexes within the city.
Jin Ikho, Director of the Resource Circulation Division, said, "Cleanly separated transparent PET bottles can be used as high-quality recycled materials, so we ask all citizens to actively practice and participate in proper separation and disposal."
