Chungnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services: Decorate Your Garden with the New Chrysanthemum Variety 'Yellow Star'

The Chungnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services announced on May 23 that it is supplying the new chrysanthemum variety 'Yellow Star' for a fee through technology transfer companies.

Yellow Star, developed by the Floriculture Research Institute of the Agricultural Research and Extension Services in April last year, is a domestically bred garden chrysanthemum with a deep yellow color. Yellow Star blooms in late October and is characterized by its subtle fragrance.

Compared to foreign varieties, it has greater cold resistance and can survive winter frosts, making it suitable not only for home gardens in autumn but also for various landscape designs.

Chrysanthemums are perennial herbaceous plants native to Korea. Even a single plant, when placed in a sunny spot, can produce between 500 and 1,000 flowers from September to October, depending on the variety.

While garden chrysanthemums are mainly distributed for pot cultivation, they can also be used for a variety of purposes, including landscaping suburban areas, beautifying rural villages, and creating scenic displays at autumn festivals.

An official from the Floriculture Research Institute of the Agricultural Research and Extension Services stated, "In line with the growing garden culture, we will continue to promote the excellence of domestic varieties that can withstand winter," and added, "We plan to keep supplying domestic garden chrysanthemums so that people can cultivate even richer gardens."
