Applications Accepted Until September 30
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province is accepting additional applications for its slate removal, disposal, and roof improvement support program.
According to the county on May 23, this recruitment is being carried out to prevent health damage to residents caused by asbestos. Since February, the county has secured a budget of 1,472,080,000 KRW to support individuals with the high costs of dismantling and disposing of slate.
As of this month, applications have been received for 157 residential buildings, 43 non-residential buildings, and 70 roof improvements. The number of additional applications being accepted is 95 residential buildings and 30 roof improvements, which may be adjusted within the scope of the budget. However, applications for non-residential buildings have closed due to the exhaustion of the slate disposal support budget.
This year, up to 7 million KRW per residential building will be provided for removal and disposal. For non-residential buildings, the full cost will be covered for buildings with a slate area of up to 200 square meters. For roof improvement, priority households will receive 10 million KRW per building, while general households can receive up to 5 million KRW per building. However, slate buildings that have previously received support from this program are not eligible for duplicate support.
Applications will be accepted until September 30 at the township or town administrative welfare centers where the building is located. For more details, please refer to the notices and announcements on the county office website or contact the Environmental Hygiene Division.
