A man who identified a woman attempting to jump from Seongsu Bridge in Seoul due to personal distress and helped rescue her with the police has received a letter of appreciation and a commendation.
According to Yonhap News and Seongdong Police Station in Seoul on the 23rd, the police awarded a letter of appreciation to Mr. A, a man in his 60s, and a commendation to a police officer for rescuing a woman in her 20s who attempted to jump from Seongsu Bridge.
At around 3 a.m. on the 18th, Mr. A was crossing the bridge by bicycle when he noticed a woman in her 20s sitting on the bridge railing, crying. He immediately called 112 and, together with the police who arrived at the scene, rescued the woman. Investigation revealed that the woman had attempted to jump due to personal distress, including the tragic death of a close acquaintance.
The police stated, "We handed the woman over to her family and arranged for her to receive treatment at a suicide prevention center and other facilities."
