Completion of 'Mangwoo Companion Trail' at Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park in Jungnang District

Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) completed the construction of the barrier-free forest trail 'Mangwoo Companion Trail' within Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park and held a completion ceremony on May 20.

The 'Mangwoo Companion Trail' is a barrier-free walkway stretching approximately 0.68 kilometers from Mangwoo Detention Reservoir to Jungnang Mangwoo Space, featuring a walking deck, safety railings, and rest areas to ensure that everyone can use it safely and comfortably.

With this addition, Jungnang District now boasts a total of 9.18 kilometers of 'Companion Trail,' further expanding the pedestrian infrastructure so that everyone can enjoy the pleasures of nature and walking.

Previously, the existing stair-type connection made access difficult for seniors, stroller users, and wheelchair users due to the slope. However, this project has enabled everyone to use the park without difficulty.

This project was carried out over approximately eight months starting in September 2024 and was completed on May 16. The completion ceremony held on May 20 was attended by about 100 people, including Jungnang District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi, city and district council members, and local residents. After the ceremony, participants walked together along the Companion Trail and toured the newly established section.

The creation of this Companion Trail has significantly improved accessibility to cultural facilities such as exhibition halls and outdoor stages within Jungnang Mangwoo Space, laying the foundation for Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park to become a complex space where people can enjoy rest and culture in their daily lives.

The district plans to continue expanding pedestrian-friendly infrastructure so that people with disabilities, seniors, and stroller users can all walk and stay comfortably, accelerating efforts to realize 'Jungnang, a city pleasant for walking.'

Jungnang District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi stated, "With the creation of the Mangwoo Companion Trail, we have established an environment where everyone can enjoy nature together," and added, "We will continue to carefully maintain Mangwoo Historical and Cultural Park so that it can become a cherished space in residents' daily lives, providing rest and relaxation."
