KT Expands Manufacturing AX Solutions with Microsoft and Palantir

KT has officially introduced a comprehensive solution to accelerate the artificial intelligence transformation (AX) in the manufacturing industry, in collaboration with global tech companies such as Microsoft (MS) and Palantir.

On May 22, KT announced that it held the "AX Innovation Seminar for Manufacturing" at the Josun Palace Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, targeting executives from major domestic manufacturing companies. Under the theme "AI Transformation Is Not a Choice but a Matter of Survival," KT presented its AX strategy tailored for the manufacturing sector at this event.

According to reports from global consulting firms, as of this year, the AX transformation rate by industry worldwide stands at 30% for information and communications, 25% for finance and insurance, but only 8% for manufacturing. In the manufacturing sector, the adoption of AI technology has been delayed due to compatibility issues between equipment and facilities, and because it is difficult to achieve short-term results.

To address these challenges faced by manufacturing companies, KT is applying a "Korean-style AI"-based AI agent, which is being co-developed with Microsoft, to manufacturing sites. Additionally, KT is collaborating with global data platform company Palantir to provide optimization solutions between manufacturing facilities.

To enhance security, KT utilizes "secure public cloud" and "private 5G" infrastructure as core foundations. With cloud services equipped with confidential computing technology, KT safely handles sensitive data from manufacturing companies, and uses ultra-low latency 5G communication to enable real-time process control, predictive maintenance, and unmanned operations.

KT has already successfully established a Thai-language large language model (LLM) platform in partnership with Jasmine Group in Thailand. This platform is a one-stop service that provides the LLM operation management environment, AI service infrastructure, and a Thai-language dedicated LLM model. Based on this successful experience, KT plans to expand its AX business into other global markets.
