Kang Kyungseong, President of KOTRA, Joins 'Population Issue Awareness Improvement Relay Campaign'

Raising Awareness of Demographic Changes Such as Population Decline

Kang Kyungseong, President of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), participated in the 'Population Issue Awareness Improvement Relay Campaign' through Instagram.


On May 23, KOTRA announced that this campaign aims to raise awareness about demographic changes such as population decline and aging, and to expand social consensus on these issues. The campaign is organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Human Resources Development Institute for Health and Welfare. President Kang participated after being nominated by Kim Jundong, President of Korea Southern Power.


To address population issues, KOTRA has established and expanded various systems to help employees balance work and family life, and is operating a family-friendly organizational culture. In particular, the agency is implementing customized policies for each stage of parenting, such as expanding paid infertility leave, increasing the use of maternity protection hours, increasing maternity and spouse leave, and introducing two hours of daily childcare time. KOTRA is also making efforts to create a flexible working environment.

Kang Kyungseong, President of KOTRA, stated, "Low birth rates and population aging are critical social challenges that can determine the sustainability and future competitiveness of the Republic of Korea. Internally, KOTRA is working to establish a flexible working environment that allows for a balance between work and family life. At the same time, through our core functions such as supporting overseas expansion, attracting investment, and helping young people find employment both domestically and internationally, we will actively respond to demographic changes and strive to ensure the sustainable growth of our society."


President Kang nominated Kim Wanki, Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and Kang Seokjin, Chairman of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, as the next participants in the campaign.
