A man in his 50s was caught in the act after using a pen-shaped camera hidden in his shoe to film under a woman's skirt on a railway station platform.

The Metropolitan Railway Investigation Division of the Railway Special Judicial Police under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that at approximately 8:25 a.m. on May 20, a man identified as A was arrested on suspicion of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. The incident occurred on the northbound platform of Geumjeong Station and inside a Line 1 train.

A is accused of standing very close behind two women, installing a small hidden camera inside his shoe, and then inserting his foot under the victims' skirts to record video footage for about four minutes.

At the time of the crime, a railway police officer on patrol noticed A's suspicious behavior, immediately intervened, and arrested him. During the police investigation, A reportedly admitted to all charges. The railway police are currently conducting digital forensic analysis of the seized footage and equipment to determine whether there are additional offenses.

This incident occurred during the "100-Day Special Crackdown on Railway Sexual Crimes," which the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport launched on May 19 and will continue until July 26. Do Jeongseok, Chief of the Railway Police at the Ministry, stated, "We are strengthening patrols at stations and on trains so that people can use the railway safely," and urged, "If you witness a sexual crime on the railway, please report it actively through the Railway Police application or by calling 112."

Meanwhile, the Railway Police is an agency under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for crime prevention and enforcement in subway stations and trains nationwide, counter-terrorism activities, and investigations of railway accidents.
