"Jung-gu, Daegu Offers Moving Expenses up to 300,000 KRW for Young Residents"...500 Recipients Supported This Year

Jung-gu District in Daegu (District Mayor Ryu Kyuha) announced on May 21 that it will implement the "Youth Real Estate Brokerage Fee and Moving Expense Support Program," the first of its kind among basic local governments in Daegu, to reduce housing costs for young people and encourage them to settle in the area.

This program provides actual expense support of up to 300,000 KRW by combining real estate brokerage fees and moving expenses for single-person youth households without home ownership. Eligible applicants are heads of households aged 19 to 39, as of the announcement date, who have either moved into Jung-gu from outside the district or have completed a move and reported their new address within Jung-gu after January 1, 2025.

The eligibility requirements are as follows: for jeonse (lump-sum deposit leases), the deposit must be 50 million KRW or less; for monthly rentals, the deposit must be 30 million KRW or less and the monthly rent must not exceed 500,000 KRW. In addition, the applicant's household health insurance premium must be at or below 150% of the standard median income. Residents of accommodations such as Gosiwon or guesthouses are also eligible to apply if they submit the required supporting documents.

Jung-gu District plans to select 500 recipients for support this year, and the program may close early if the budget is exhausted. Applications can be submitted at any time through the Jung-gu District Office website. Applicants will be notified of the selection results via text message within 15 days of the following month after the application date, following a review process, and the support funds will be provided within 20 days. However, each individual may receive support only once in their lifetime.

This program is expected to not only provide tangible housing stability and economic relief for young people, but also to attract more young residents and encourage them to settle in the region.

Ryu Kyuha, Mayor of Jung-gu District in Daegu, stated, "We have prepared this program to provide practical help to young people who are becoming independent for the first time or starting out in a new place," adding, "We will continue to expand a variety of tailored policies so that young people can settle in Jung-gu and pursue their dreams with stability."
