Youngsun Kim, a member of the Gwangsan District Council in Gwangju (Democratic Party of Korea, representing Suwan-dong, Hanam-dong, and Imgok-dong), announced on the 22nd that she recently received the Excellence Award in the Economic Vitality Promotion category at the 2025 Governance Local Politics Awards.
The Governance Local Politics Awards is a nationwide competition hosted by the Governance Center, a non-profit organization, and this year marks its seventh edition.
Council member Kim was recognized for her activities related to the local economy, including support for small business owners, revitalization of traditional markets, and fostering neighborhood commercial districts. She also received high marks for establishing a foundation for public-private cooperation through initiatives such as amending the 'Small Business Support Ordinance,' holding roundtable discussions, and installing unmanned civil service certificate issuance machines.
Kim stated, "I will listen more closely to the voices of small business owners" and added, "I will continue my efforts to revitalize the local economy."
