Gwangju Bukgu District announced on May 22 that it has selected five cases as “Outstanding Examples of Proactive Administration” for the first half of this year.

The evaluation focused on major policies implemented by Bukgu from October of last year to March of this year. Outstanding cases were selected based on four criteria: residents’ perceived impact, proactivity and creativity, importance and difficulty of the task, and potential for broader adoption.

The Grand Prize was awarded to the case of “Closure of Samho Livestock Odor Emission Facility.” To address over 700 complaints about odors in the Yangsan, Unam, and Dongnim-dong areas, Bukgu formed its own task force, strengthened collaboration with relevant agencies, and actively communicated with both residents and businesses.

The Excellence Awards went to the “New Policies to Overcome Low Birthrate” and the “Smart Senior Community Center Project.” Bukgu implemented policies such as paternity leave incentives, hospital accompaniment for sick children, transportation subsidies, and the establishment of care centers. The installation of smart senior community centers for the elderly also enhanced residents’ satisfaction.

The Encouragement Awards were given to the “Smart Care Complex Project,” which converted unused spaces in permanent rental apartments into smart healthcare hubs, and to the “Stepping Stone Special Guarantee Support” program for small business owners.

Bukgu plans to award bonuses, vacation days, and commendations to the public officials responsible for the selected cases, aiming to further promote a culture of proactive administration within the organization.

District Mayor Moon In stated, “We will continue to support creative and proactive administration in the future.”
