Busan Office of Education to Provide Up to 500,000 KRW in Annual "Education Support Points" for Multi-Child Families

Joint Initiative by Busan City and Education Office
Learning and Education Expenses Linked to Dongbaekjeon

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun), in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan Government, is launching the "2025 Busan Multi-Child Education Support Points" program to address the issue of low birth rates and to alleviate the educational expenses of families with multiple children.

This program targets families with two or more children, including at least one child born between 2007 and 2018. Each household will receive annual education support points: ▲300,000 KRW for families with two children, and ▲500,000 KRW for families with three or more children.

The support funds are provided in the form of "Dongbaekjeon," the local currency policy fund, and the points can be used for education-related items. Eligible categories include ▲learning materials and books, ▲reading room and study cafe usage fees, ▲arts and physical education facility tuition, and ▲stationery, copying, and printing costs. The points can only be used at affiliated merchants for multi-child families. Whether a merchant is affiliated can be checked through the Dongbaekjeon app during the application period.

Applications for the points can be submitted via the mobile Dongbaekjeon app from 9:00 a.m. on May 22 to 6:00 p.m. on December 12. For those who have difficulty using digital platforms, email applications are also supported. For further inquiries, a dedicated call center is available for assistance.

Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "I hope this education support points program will serve as an opportunity to significantly reduce the financial burden on families with multiple children," adding, "The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will do its utmost to expand family-friendly educational welfare."

The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plan to strengthen policy support for multi-child families in the region through this program and to lay the foundation for overcoming the low birth rate crisis.
