This event was held at the Seoul Science Center in Nowon-gu, Seoul, from May 17 to 18, to commemorate the 8th anniversary of the science center's opening, under the theme 'The Great Adventure of Life Embracing the Earth.' The event was planned to promote the popularization of science and to enhance environmental awareness.
During the event, a variety of science experience activities were offered for citizens, families, and young people. The Social Impact School operated several exhibition and experience booths, including a slag fertilizer kit display, a pepper planting experience, a waste fishing net resource circulation process exhibition, and a specific gravity separation experiment.
About 1,000 people, including children and teenagers, participated in the exhibition and experience booths, where they had the opportunity to directly experience the mechanism of slag fertilizer and the resource recycling process of waste fishing net materials, gaining an understanding of the scientific principles and environmental value of resource circulation. One child who participated in the experience said, "It was surprising to learn that discarded fishing nets can be reused, and doing the experiment myself made it even more memorable."
Now in its fourth year, the Social Impact School is a social innovation education program jointly planned and operated by Seoul Women's University and N2B Co., Ltd. since 2022. The program enables university students to take the lead in planning and carrying out projects that create social value based on resource circulation.
