Hoengseong County Selects 10 Couples, Including Um Sunggeun and Lee Seongsun, as "Couples of the Year"

Celebrating the 10th Hoengseong Couples Day
A Heartwarming Event for Family Month

Hoengseong County in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Myunggi) successfully held the "10th Hoengseong Couples Day Commemorative Ceremony" at the Hoengseong Culture and Arts Center on the 21st, in celebration of Family Month in May and Couples Day.

This event, organized by the Hoengseong County Women's Association Council (President Noh Insook), featured a variety of programs designed to reflect on the precious meaning of marriage and to foster a healthy family culture.

More than 300 people attended, including Kim Myunggi, Governor of Hoengseong County, Pyo Hansang, Chairman of the Hoengseong County Council, members of the Hoengseong County Women's Association Council, and local residents. The event began with a congratulatory performance and a special lecture for couples in the first part, followed by an awards ceremony for Couples of the Year and the presentation of sponsorship funds to families with multiple children in the second part.

The "2025 Couples of the Year Award" was given to a total of ten couples who were selected based on recommendations from township heads and heads of institutions and organizations since April. These couples were recognized as exemplary members of the local community.

The award categories and recipients are as follows:

▷ Hoengseong Couple Award: Kwon Otaek and Kim Kyunghwa (Hoengseong), Choi Chankyu and Yoo Miok (Ucheon), Cho Wonmun and Jung Sunja (Anheung),

Um Sunggeun and Lee Seongsun (Dunnae), Yoon Myunghyun and Kim Myungsook (Seowon), Ko Geumchul and Kim Chuntaek (Gangnim)

▷ Baeknyeonhaero Couple Award: Kwak Deokgeun and Kim Okbun (Gapcheon), Park Seokhun and Kwon Yeonsun (Gonggeun)

▷ Multicultural Happiness Couple Award: Lee Gilju and Del Rosario Curioso Mailyn (Hoengseong)

▷ Harmonious Family Award: Choi Gyegyu and Lee Misook (Cheongil)

In addition, the Hoengseong County Women's Association Council provided sponsorship funds of 300,000 won each to four families with multiple children, in order to encourage large families and promote a culture of communal childcare.

President Noh Insook stated, "I hope this ceremony served as a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the values of love and respect between couples," and added, "We will continue our efforts to establish a happy family culture in Hoengseong County."
