Top Contender Ye Won Lee Aims for Third Consecutive Victory

E1 Charity Open Kicks Off at Ferrum Club
Aiming for a Historic Fourth Three-Consecutive Wins with a Victory
Targeting Four Season Wins and 4 Billion Won in Career Earnings

Ye Won Lee is aiming for her third consecutive victory on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour.

She is targeting a win at the 13th E1 Charity Open (total prize money: 1 billion won), which will be held on May 23 at Ferrum Club in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province (par 72, 6,366 yards). Ye Won Lee has dominated the KLPGA Tour since the beginning of this year, securing three wins in eight tournaments. She claimed her first victory of the season at the Doosan Construction We’ve Championship, the domestic season opener held last month, and then achieved back-to-back wins at the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship and the Doosan Match Play.

Ye Won Lee, who joined the tour in 2021, won three times each in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but this is her first time achieving consecutive victories. There have only been three instances of three consecutive wins on the KLPGA Tour. Se Ri Pak set the first record in 1996, followed by Mi Hyun Kim, who achieved the second three-tournament winning streak the following year. After more than a decade without such a record, Hee Kyung Seo became the third player to accomplish this feat in 2008.

If Ye Won Lee wins this tournament, she will become the first player in 17 years to achieve three consecutive tournament victories. She is also aiming to break the records for most prize money earned in the first half of the season (1,132,607,500 won) and most wins in the first half (six wins), both set by Min Ji Park in the 2021 season. So far this season, Ye Won Lee has earned 752,964,532 won in prize money. The winner’s prize for this tournament is 180 million won. Having accumulated a total of 3,972,622,767 won in career earnings, Ye Won Lee is about 27 million won away from surpassing the 4 billion won mark.

Ye Won Lee stated, “It is an honor to challenge for the special record of three consecutive victories,” adding, “Ferrum Club is a difficult course, so I will play defensively.” She continued, “My goal for this season is four wins, and I want to achieve it as soon as possible. I will also aim for victory in this tournament.”
