First Case Since Landing Casino Opened
A Chinese female tourist in her 30s made headlines after hitting a jackpot worth over 200 million KRW at the foreigner-only casino inside Jeju Shinhwa World. The amount she bet on the game was just 1,000 KRW.
On May 21, Jeju Shinhwa World announced that a Chinese tourist, a woman in her 30s identified as Ms. A, won 210 million KRW (before tax) while playing a three card poker game at Landing Casino, the foreigner-only casino, on May 15.
It was reported that Ms. A completed a "royal straight flush" in the three card poker game. This is the highest possible hand in the game, which requires receiving the ace, king, queen, jack, ten, and nine of diamonds.
Ms. A placed a 1,000 KRW bet on the progressive betting option and, with this hand, won a prize of approximately 212 million KRW. "Progressive betting" is a system in which multiple players participate in the three card poker game, and a portion of each player's bet is accumulated into the jackpot prize. Ms. A is the first person to hit this jackpot at this casino.
Opened in 2018, Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Casino is the largest of the eight foreigner-only casinos in the Jeju region. It houses 137 slot machines and 102 electronic table games.
