Goryeong County Eases Loneliness of Single-Person Households... Launches "Food Art Therapy" Class

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province has launched a "Food Art Therapy Class" to help alleviate the emotional isolation of single-person households. This is a special psychological program designed to facilitate communication and healing through food.

According to Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) on May 21, the county opened the Food Art Therapy Class for single-person households at the Lifelong Education Room of the Welfare Center for the Disabled on May 20. The program was planned to provide emotional support and help participants build social networks. Ten participants will share time for communication and empathy, using food as a medium.

The Food Art Therapy Class will be held every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. until July 22, for a total of eight sessions. The program includes culinary psychological counseling and aims to help participants achieve psychological stability and improve self-esteem. In particular, those who attend all sessions faithfully will receive a small gift.

An official from the county stated, "We hope that through this program, participants will have a chance to reflect on themselves and overcome loneliness and isolation through group activities." The official added, "We expect this will help improve self-esteem and restore social relationships."
