Three Days of Campaign in the "Most Crucial Battleground" Seoul Metropolitan Area
Targeting Women's Votes... Sul Nanyeong Joins the Effort
Agricultural Policy Pledges to Be Announced Soon... Seeking a Last-Minute Turnaround
Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is staying in the Seoul metropolitan area, considered the "most crucial battleground," for the third consecutive day on May 21 to win over voters. He is intensifying his campaign by traveling to various locations in Gyeonggi Province, strengthening tailored pledges for moderates, women, and farmers' organizations in an effort to create a last-minute turnaround.

On this day, Kim is scheduled to attend a presidential candidate debate hosted by the Korea Broadcasting Journalists Club in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province in the morning, and then tour the northern part of Gyeonggi Province in the afternoon to appeal for support. Starting his campaign at Hwajeong Station Square in Goyang, he will visit Gimpo to have lunch with young small business owners and listen to their concerns. Since his "ability to broaden his base" is often cited as a weakness, he aims to target the younger generation to expand his appeal to moderates.
He will then visit Paju, Dongducheon, Yangju, and Namyangju to seek support. Shin Dongwook, a spokesperson for the People Power Party's election campaign committee, explained in a briefing that day, "Candidate Kim laid the groundwork for the metropolitan railway network to solve transportation issues for Gyeonggi residents," adding, "Today's campaign will be an opportunity to explain the future of Gyeonggi Province."
Kim is also strengthening pledges tailored to women and farmers. Following the launch of the women's division campaign team this week, the People Power Party has announced a series of policies for women, including gender-equal recruitment and paid leave for infertility treatment. Kim's spouse, Sul Nanyeong, is also scheduled to attend the "Women's Division Victory Resolution Rally" at the party headquarters in the afternoon, where she will communicate with women voters and reaffirm their commitment.

Kim's camp is also reportedly leaning toward maintaining the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which has been at the center of debate over its potential abolition. A senior official from the People Power Party's campaign committee explained in a phone call, "Abolishing the ministry is realistically difficult given the lack of social consensus," adding, "We are discussing ways to assign it a more effective role." Kim also told reporters on May 14, "It's not that the ministry should be abolished, nor that it should be expanded."
Kim is also planning to announce agricultural policy pledges soon. Another campaign official explained, "We have already announced pledges to protect the rights and interests of women farmers, and will soon announce additional agricultural policies." The pledges are expected to include raising the food self-sufficiency rate, expanding the adoption of smart farms, and providing medical support for rural areas. On this day, Kim is scheduled to meet with young farmers in Goyang for a discussion, and is reportedly coordinating meetings with professional organizations in the agricultural sector as well.
