Realizing a 'Cultured Urban Railway'
Traditional Korean music will resonate through transfer stations in the Busan urban railway system.
Busan Transportation Corporation and the National Busan Gugak Center have joined forces to promote traditional culture.
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) signed a business agreement with the National Busan Gugak Center (Director Lee Jeongyeop) to promote traditional culture and expand citizens' cultural enjoyment. The signing ceremony took place the previous day at the National Busan Gugak Center in Yeonji-dong, Busan.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on several cultural initiatives, including the production of traditional Korean music-based background music for transfer stations in the urban railway system, joint use of gugak content, and hosting performances and exhibitions within stations.
In accordance with this agreement, the corporation plans to introduce new background music to trains on all lines of the urban railway system within this year. The previously used fusion gugak tracks, composed by Vinylogue, had been in use for several years, but there were concerns that they lacked sufficient regional and traditional characteristics.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "This agreement will serve as a great example of spreading traditional culture through the medium of urban railways," adding, "We will continue to provide urban railway services that enhance cultural value."
Lee Jeongyeop, Director of the National Busan Gugak Center, also commented, "I am pleased that an environment has been created in which citizens can naturally encounter traditional music in their daily lives," and added, "We will continue our efforts to revitalize local culture."
This collaboration is an attempt to embody Busan's unique cultural identity through public infrastructure such as the urban railway, and is expected to serve as a step closer to realizing a 'cultural railway' in everyday life.
