Weekend Service Until November
Available Only at Tancheon Water Play Areas in July and August
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor: Shin Sangjin) announced on May 21 that it will officially launch a drone delivery service in Jungang Park starting on May 24.
This drone delivery service is being implemented as part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2025 K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project." The goal is to provide citizens with a variety of delivery options and to enhance convenience in daily life.
The drone delivery service will operate on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in May, June, September, October, and November, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Delivery operations may be adjusted depending on weather conditions or flight restrictions within the Air Force control zone.
Available items for order range from meals such as tteokbokki, rice bowls, dakgangjeong, and gimbap, to beverages and snacks including coffee and bread. There are two delivery points in Jungang Park: the picnic area and the water play sound shelter.
During July and August, drone delivery in Jungang Park will be temporarily suspended due to heat waves and park usage conditions. During this period, the drone delivery service will only be available at six water play areas along the Tancheon Stream, including Geumgok Park, Gumidong, and Gungnae Sageori.
The drone delivery service offers a variety of options tailored to citizens' needs, including general orders, regular deliveries, emergency deliveries, and scheduled deliveries.
The service will be operated by the drone specialist company Prianew Co., Ltd. Citizens can easily place orders by scanning the QR code installed at the delivery points in the park and using the "K-Drone Delivery" app.
Since Seongnam City became the first in the nation to launch paid urban drone delivery service on August 1, 2023, it recorded 205 deliveries in 2023 and 578 deliveries in 2024. This year, the city aims to achieve more than 400 deliveries.
A Seongnam City official stated, "We will continue to improve citizens' quality of life by integrating drone and robot delivery services, and further expand the foundation for a smart city."
