Korea Expressway Corporation will hold a special exhibition inviting artists from the Gimcheon area at the open exhibition hall on the 2nd floor of the headquarters from the 20th to July 11th.
This special exhibition will feature works by local artists recommended by the Gimcheon Art Association, presented in a relay format. Various genres will be introduced, including ceramics, Western painting, and calligraphy.
The exhibition schedule is as follows: artist Do Jaemo (May 20?June 5, ceramics), painter Jung Sunghui (June 16?June 27, Western painting), and calligrapher Yoon Wonsu (July 1?July 11, calligraphy).
The corporation stated that through this exhibition, it aims to provide local artists with stable opportunities to present their work and to fulfill its role as a public institution in supporting cultural initiatives for mutual growth with the local community.
Currently, there are some exhibition spaces in Gimcheon, such as the City Art Museum, the Culture and Arts Center, and the Buhang Dam Water Culture Center. However, it has been pointed out that it is still difficult for artists to secure regular and continuous exhibition opportunities.
The opening ceremony on this day was attended by Ham Jingyu, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, Song Eonseok, Member of the National Assembly (People Power Party, Gimcheon, Gyeongbuk), Na Youngmin, Chairperson of the Gimcheon City Council, Choi Sunko, Deputy Mayor of Gimcheon, and other key local figures. They discussed ways to support local artists and promote cultural development in the region.
Ham Jingyu, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, said, "I hope this special exhibition will allow citizens to naturally engage with art and provide artists with opportunities to share the value of their creations. As a public institution, we will continue to take the lead in promoting cultural development in the local community."
