The Daejeon City Government announced on May 20 that it has signed an agreement with the Korea Tourism Association to ensure the successful hosting of the 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival,' which opens on August 8, and to revitalize the tourism industry.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will establish a close cooperative system for the successful hosting of domestic and international events such as the 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival,' the development of tourism policies and joint forums, and the exchange of tourism information.

In particular, they plan to focus on strategic cooperation aimed at qualitative growth and globalization of local festivals, with the goal of developing the 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival' into a world-class event.

Jangwoo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "If the expertise of the Tourism Association is combined with Daejeon's ability to execute, it can create great synergy for Daejeon to become a top-tier tourism city." He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that not only the 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival' but all of the city's tourism resources become a source of pride for our citizens."

This year's 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival' is scheduled to take place from August 8 to 16, spanning nine days, along a 1-kilometer stretch from Daejeon Station to the former Chungnam Provincial Government Office, focusing on the Jungang-ro area and the original downtown commercial district. The city plans to operate the festival as an urban event that both citizens and tourists can enjoy together, through traffic control and integration with local businesses.
