The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 20th that it is investigating former Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Youngse and Floor Leader Kwon Seongdong on charges of attempted coercion and obstruction of business.
According to the police, former Chairman Kwon and Floor Leader Kwon are suspected of pressuring candidate Kim, who was selected as the People Power Party's presidential candidate, to unify with former Prime Minister Han.
They are also accused of implying harm to People Power Party lawmaker Jang Donghyuk, who was nominated by candidate Kim for the position of Secretary-General, by suggesting that he would face disadvantages in future nominations and other matters if he accepted the position, which allegedly led Jang to decline the appointment.
A police official stated, "We have completed questioning the complainant and are currently reviewing the legal aspects of the case."
