On May 15, Mungyeong City announced on May 20 that it had signed a three-party memorandum of understanding (MOU) at City Hall with Mungyeong Tourism Corporation and the Seoul Tourism Foundation for mutual tourism cooperation and shared development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hyunguk Shin, Mayor of Mungyeong, Jeonggeol Lee, Chairman of the Mungyeong City Council, Pilgyun Shin, CEO of Mungyeong Tourism Corporation, and Kiyeon Gil, CEO of the Seoul Tourism Foundation, who discussed ways to cooperate for the development of the local tourism industry.
Through this agreement, the three organizations agreed to jointly promote tourism revitalization by exchanging tourism information, establishing a tourism network, and carrying out cooperative projects to promote tourism both domestically and internationally.
In particular, they plan to connect Seoul's tourist inflow base with Mungyeong's abundant natural and cultural tourism resources to develop a stay-type tourism model and promote tangible revitalization of the local economy.
Mungyeong City is strengthening its tourism competitiveness not only with existing attractions such as Mungyeong Saejae and Eco World, but also with new tourism infrastructure such as the Mungyeong Saejae cable car and Juhulsan Sky Road, which will begin construction this year.
By linking with the Seoul Tourism Foundation's promotional and marketing capabilities through this agreement, the city expects to accelerate the expansion of tourism demand.
Hyunguk Shin, Mayor of Mungyeong, emphasized, "Tourism in Mungyeong is no longer a matter of imagination but will soon become a reality," adding, "Cooperation with the Seoul Tourism Foundation will serve as a turning point that will dramatically change the paradigm of tourism in Mungyeong."
Meanwhile, Mungyeong City plans to continue making the tourism industry a key driver of regional growth and to pursue sustainable tourism policies.
