Visited Yeokbuk 2 District Construction Site to Discuss Noise Reduction and Compensation
"More proactive noise reduction measures needed to minimize impact on nearby residents"
Lee Sangil, mayor of Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, has taken direct action to address not only apartment defect repairs but also resident complaints related to construction noise.
According to Yongin City on May 20, Mayor Lee visited the construction site of Seohee Starhills Apartments in Yeokbuk 2 District, Cheoin-gu, the previous afternoon to discuss noise reduction measures and compensation issues raised by nearby residents.

This site visit was prompted by complaints from residents of the cooperative apartments in Yeokbuk 3 District, who recently moved in and reported discomfort due to construction noise coming from the adjacent Seohee Starhills project in Yeokbuk 2 District.
At the site office, Mayor Lee received a report on the causes of the noise and the plans for its reduction, and then personally inspected the areas where noise was impacting nearby apartments.
Mayor Lee stated, "Noise is a significant issue that disrupts citizens' daily lives. I hope you will implement noise reduction measures more proactively to prevent harm to nearby residents, and also make sincere efforts to compensate for any damage that has already occurred." He urged the construction company to thoroughly implement noise reduction measures and added, "Regarding compensation requests, it would be best if those with decision-making authority at the headquarters engage in negotiations with sincerity."
Previously, in response to ongoing complaints from residents, the city instructed the construction company to install soundproof panels in openings to prevent noise leakage during the dismantling of aluminum forms, to have workers operate in pairs, and to apply low-noise construction methods such as installing vibration-damping rubber mats on the floors.
Based on the inspection results and prior consultations with the construction company, the city plans to hold a meeting with Yeokbuk 3 District residents on May 20 to listen to their opinions and concerns.
