Efforts to Improve Hygiene and Convenience
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on May 20 that it has established a dedicated text message contact number to improve the restroom environment in major urban parks and to operate a citizen-centered management system.
Gwangsan District is currently operating a dedicated text message service to promptly reflect citizens' feedback regarding public restrooms in parks, including Ssangam Neighborhood Park. Any citizen can send a text message to report inconveniences or make suggestions related to the use of park restrooms.
The district plans to review and examine the submitted feedback and, if necessary, take immediate action. In addition, maintenance work has been carried out to enhance the hygiene and convenience of park restrooms. The district has installed air fresheners and urinal cleaning agents in 74 public restrooms within its jurisdiction, and has completely replaced toilet paper with roll-type tissue that dispenses one sheet at a time.
Furthermore, to encourage active use of the text message system by citizens, the contact number has been posted in visible locations inside restrooms. The district also plans to strengthen restroom inspections and cleanliness management, focusing on the management department and private caretakers.
