Governor Woo Seunghee of Yeongam County Supports Smooth Presidential Election Voting

"One Vote from Yeongam Residents Changes Korea"
...Encouraging Voter Participation

Woo Seunghee, the governor of Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province, promoted participation in the '21st Presidential Election' voting to residents at the Yeongam Nonghyup intersection on May 19. This promotional activity followed a review of the presidential election progress held by the Yeongam County Office two days earlier, on May 16.

According to the county on May 20, efforts will be made to ensure that residents can vote in the presidential election without inconvenience. At the same time, the county decided to establish strict discipline among public officials to prevent any violations of the Public Official Election Act or related laws during the election period.

Furthermore, to encourage all residents to participate in the June 3 Presidential Election, the county will foster an election atmosphere with the slogan, "A Vote from Yeongam Residents Changes Korea."

The county has hung banners promoting election information and voting participation at 45 key locations along major roads in the county office area and towns. Additionally, voting participation sculptures have been installed at 9 roundabouts with heavy vehicle traffic.

Other promotional activities include posting banners on the Yeongam County website and official social media channels, displaying messages on the digital signboard on the county office building exterior, changing public officials' social media profile pictures, installing banners in the civil service office and town administrative welfare centers, updating the administrative phone connection message, attaching posters to county buses and administrative vehicles, and sending official notices to institutions and social organizations.

In particular, the county sent election participation notices to high schools with students born before June 4, 2007, who are eligible to vote for the first time. Going forward, Yeongam County plans to continue promoting participation in the presidential election through text messages and announcements in villages and apartment complexes.

Additionally, in cooperation with the Yeongam County Election Commission, the county will deploy 15 vehicles to 10 towns, 86 villages, and 28 routes where traffic inconveniences are expected on election day.

Governor Woo stated, "Elections are a festival of democracy, and voting is the flower of democracy. We will provide seamless support for voting in cooperation with the Yeongam County Election Commission so that every resident can exercise their voting rights guaranteed by the Constitution. We will also continue our promotional efforts to ensure that every single person can cast their vote."
