Asia Cement Accelerates ESG Management... Releases Sustainability Report

Four Regular Environmental Events Annually
Safety Training Enhanced with Simultaneous Experience-Type VR

Asia Cement is taking the lead in ESG practices under the banner of 'sustainable responsible management.' To this end, the company plans to focus its strategic investments on areas such as environmental protection, resource circulation, and the internalization of industrial safety.

On May 20, Asia Cement announced that it will publish its 2024 Sustainability Report and disclose its ESG performance. Since publishing its first sustainability report in 2012, Asia Cement has been sharing the results of its ESG activities with all stakeholders. Starting in 2021, the company established an ESG Management Committee, which includes Chairman Lee Hoonbum and outside directors, to review ESG management status semiannually.

In the environmental sector, the company holds four regular environmental events annually, including World Water Day and World Environment Day. In particular, to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) generated during the cement manufacturing process, Asia Cement became the first in the industry to introduce an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, aiming to begin operations in October.

In the safety sector, after opening the Asia Safety Experience Center on the first floor of the main building at the Jecheon plant in November 2022, the company has strengthened practical safety capabilities for both technical and office management staff through hands-on safety training. Especially at the beginning of this year, in addition to the previously introduced high-altitude work virtual reality (VR) equipment, the company introduced a simultaneous experience-type VR system to provide more efficient safety and experiential training.

In the area of social contribution, activities for mutual growth with the local community are ongoing. Asia Cement holds the 'Love Blood Donation Day' four times a year, participates in the Uirimji Cleanup environmental campaign, and, in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity Korea, conducts the annual 'Hope House Building' volunteer construction project for housing-vulnerable groups.
