Muan County to Provide Additional Subsidies for 141 Electric Passenger Vehicles

General: 113 units, Priority: 7 units, Taxis: 21 units

Muan County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) will implement an additional subsidy program for the purchase of electric passenger vehicles in 2025, following the first half of the year, in order to promote a clean air environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby accelerating the realization of carbon neutrality.

According to the county on May 20, the additional support will cover 141 vehicles (113 for the general public, 7 for priority recipients, and 21 for taxis). The number of vehicles supported may be adjusted depending on the subsidy amount for each vehicle type. Applications will be accepted from May 20 until the budget is exhausted, and the program may close early if funds run out.

Eligibility requirements are as follows: ▲ Individuals must be Muan residents aged 18 or older who have maintained their address in the county for at least 90 days as of the application date; ▲ Business owners must have both their personal address and business location in Muan County; ▲ Corporations must have their business premises (such as headquarters, branch, or factory) located in Muan County in order to apply.

The subsidy ranges from a minimum of 2,990,000 KRW to a maximum of 12,300,000 KRW. For eligible groups such as low-income households, families with multiple children, small business owners, and farmers, additional national funding will be provided on top of the standard vehicle subsidy.

To apply for the subsidy, buyers must sign a purchase contract for an electric vehicle, after which the manufacturer or dealership will apply for the subsidy for the eligible vehicle through the Ministry of Environment’s Low Emission Vehicle Subsidy Support System. Detailed information can be found on the Zero Emission Vehicle Integrated Website or in the announcements section of the Muan County website.

Governor Kim San stated, "Expanding the supply of electric vehicles, which are environmentally friendly energy sources, is an essential task in responding to the climate crisis. I hope that the active participation of our residents will help us achieve carbon neutrality and create a clean environment free from fine dust."
