Jeonnam Province is accelerating the development of the radio industry, which is considered a core technology and a blue ocean for future new industries, by joining forces with the Korea Radio Promotion Association, Jeonnam Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and Naju City to become a hub for future radio and information and communication technology (ICT) industries.
On May 19, Jeonnam Province held an opening ceremony for the "Korea Radio Promotion Association Honam Region Radio Measurement Center" at the Energy Valley Enterprise Development Institute in Naju Innovation City. At the event, the four organizations signed a business agreement to actively cooperate in revitalizing the radio and ICT industries in the Honam region.
The Honam Region Radio Measurement Center of the Korea Radio Promotion Association, which is being established in Naju Innovation City, will serve as a forward base providing advanced national-level radio services in a one-stop manner, including radio environment testing, support for resolving radio interference and congestion, product radio performance analysis, and consulting.
Until now, radio and ICT companies in the Jeonnam region have faced significant difficulties, such as relying on advanced technology and specialized personnel from the Seoul metropolitan area. With the opening of the Honam Region Radio Measurement Center in Naju, it is expected to greatly contribute to training radio experts and attracting radio-related companies.
Going forward, Jeonnam Province plans to actively attract large-scale national projects and enhance the added value of the ICT industry by converging radio technology with regional specialized industries such as energy, drones and unmanned vehicles, smart agriculture, marine IoT (Internet of Things), and digital healthcare, based on its excellent radio and ICT infrastructure.
In particular, Jeonnam Province, which has long recognized the importance of the radio industry, is working to secure a foundation for the industry by proactively planning large-scale projects such as the regional radio playground in collaboration with local institutions and universities.
Kang Sanggu, Director of the Energy Industry Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, "The opening of the Honam Region Radio Measurement Center in Naju and the business agreement will serve as an important milestone for the development of the regional radio industry and become an excellent cooperation model between relocated institutions in Naju Innovation City and local governments."
